November 2010 - AIPN urges new National Preventive Health Agency to focus on Injury
The AIPN welcomes the long awaited Australian National Preventive Health Agency (see media release). It is now vital that AIPN strongly advocates for Injury to be incorporated as a key focus of the agency. The AIPN wrote to the Minister (see letter) calling for Injury Prevention to be a focus of the new Agency, and to outline recommendations recently endorsed by both the AIPN and PHAA Injury SIG. The AIPN urges all members, colleagues and related organisations to also write to the Minister as soon as possible – many voices are heard louder than one! Details for the Minister are:

April 2008 - Update on advocacy for injury prevention action by the Government
The AIPN met with the Minister for Health’s adviser recently. We discussed a range of the concerns we have about the inactivity around most of Australia on issues to do with the prevention of injury. To follow this up we were invited to put in writing our suggestions for a way forward for the new government. Attached below are:
- the AIPN letter to Health Minister on injury prevention (see letter)
- a discussion document sent at her request following AIPN's meeting with the Minister's Deputy Chief of Staff. This document entitled 'Health action on prevention of injury - a suggested starting point' is a summary of activities that AIPN would like the Commonwealth Department of Health to re-start action on at the federal level (see document).
