Dr Lisa Sharwood

Dr Lisa Sharwood is an experienced epidemiologist and health data scientist specialising in injury, public health, and health services research with over 20 years of experience in academic, government, and industry settings.
Sharwood applies skills in public health surveillance and risk assessment and mitigation, utilising comprehensive data and system analyses to provide evidence-based evaluations for improving health and safety outcomes.
She is dedicated to advocating for health and health system optimisation through data driven strategies, and to translating evidence-based findings to improve practice and policy for cost effective injury prevention and care.
Foundationally a Critical Care Registered Nurse, Sharwood’s understanding of health systems and pathways of care for individuals experiencing injury, has informed the development of her research understanding and solution application.
Sharwood works closely with national government agencies including the AIHW, Safe Work Australia and others, to align injury surveillance development work with public health policy.
