Mareta Hunt
Māori Representative
Mareta is the Director of Safekids Aotearoa (New Zealand). Mareta has tribal connections with Ngāti Awa, Tūhoe, Ngāti kahungunu, Ngāti Maniapoto and Kai Tahu.
Mareta has an outstanding background in health equity for children, empowering indigenous communities through Kaupapa Māori engagement to access quality and timely healthcare. Most recently, Mareta worked with Safekids as the Strategic Advisor, Equity and Injury Prevention to explore Indigenous knowledge systems and implement Māori digital engagement and mechanisms to support injury prevention and awareness. Mareta monitors improvements in equity and injury prevention, to close the differential gaps between groups and improving the investment and distribution of resources.
