My name is Julie Brown, Head the Injury Program at the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney. I’m also co-director of the Transurban Road Safety Centre at NeuRA and Professor in the School of Population Health at UNSW.

My entry into ‘Injury Prevention’ began in 1985 when I took a job in the Medical and Engineering Section of the NSW Road Safety Bureau – which later became Crashlab.

A fact most people would not know is that this initial job was part of a NSW government Technical Jobs for Women scheme. I completed my undergraduate degree in Science, majoring in Anatomy and Physiology part-time while working in this role.

My favourite part of the AIPN is the opportunity to meet and build connections with others working to try and make a tangible difference in reducing the risk of injury.
