Associate Professor Debbie Scott

President

Debbie is an Associate Professor at the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE) in the Institute for Health Transformation at Deakin University in Geelong, and an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology. She is a public health researcher with a nursing background and applies that perspective to the use of data to inform the development and implementation of policy and prevention strategies. Debbie’s research has focussed on intentional injury prevention, particularly as it applies to alcohol-related harms and children. She has collaborated with The World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF and International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN) on data quality issues and surveillance methodologies.
Debbie is President of the Australasian Injury Prevention Network (AIPN) , the Chair of the AIPN Subcommittee on Alcohol and Drugs and a member of the AIPN Subcommittee on Intentional Injury. She is also a Domain Leader for Prevention and Treatment in the Monash Alcohol and Drug Research Centre (MARC) and a represents Turning Point in the Monash Alfred Injury Network (MAIN).
