Dr Ben Beck

Dr Ben Beck is Head of Sustainable Mobility and Safety Research, and Deputy Head of Prehospital, Emergency and Trauma Research in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. Ben leads a large body of trauma and injury prevention research, with a focus on vulnerable road users, neurotrauma, improving trauma systems and reducing preventable deaths. As a keen cyclist, he has a particular focus on developing injury prevention strategies and reducing injury rates in cyclists.

Ben currently holds an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) Fellowship that focusses on developing and evaluating injury prevention strategies for road trauma, and was recently awarded an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship. This Fellowship will see him advance this program of research, using data-driven approaches and innovative technologies to improve the evaluation and implementation of interventions to support bike riding. Ben also conducts an array of research with the Victorian State Trauma Registry (VSTR) and the Victorian Orthopaedic Trauma Outcomes Registry (VOTOR).
